Re: Best Engine for a 20ft CC
Meads,
A Mercury 200hp Saltwater gives you that good punch. I'm curious to see what everyone thinks is the perfect motor for the 20c.c. A 150hp is perfect too and weight is just about identical. Why not that extra power when facing rough blue water.

Re: Best Engine for a 20ft CC
When I initially bought my 20'CC, it had a 130hp Yamaha Saltwater Series engine on it and it would FLY. The boat only weighs 1650 pounds, you DO NOT need to get to the Big Rock in 20 minutes! For use around Morehead, Beaufort Inlet, Harkers, and well up the East Side towards the Atlas Tanker, you would be just fine with something in the 130-150 range.
As to specific engines, there is likely only one person among the membership of this site that will argue with you against the Suzuki 4-stroke 115/140's.....and it's not me. Keep an eye on the weight, they are tail-heavy boats... [ October 07, 2003, 02:21 PM: Message edited by: Mark ] |

Re: Best Engine for a 20ft CC
Don't know about the older models, but my 2001 Seacraft sports a 130 hp Honda which weighs in at 500 lbs+, making trim tabs a must to get the bow down for a smooth ride .
