Default Fish boxes in transom

Continued from Steve’s thread on "Work bench"...

What do you guys use the two boxes for mounted in the corners of the transom on the 23's.

Anyone changed or modified them for a different purpose/use??

Thanks
Scott

Hey Scott, Good quetion and I would like to see others answers as well!!! On mine the starboard one is where I keep most of my lead and not much else. Port one I keep cast net, detergent for washing down boat, and other assorted "Junk". My thoughts this year were to put one of those coil up hoses and rigging up a saltwater washdown through it, but that will have to wait for the time being. Craig

Hey Scott, I use mine the same as Craig, mainly for storage. Port side, I keep a spare gallon of oil, funnel, absorbant, small bucket, and hose for washdown pump. Starboard houses my hydraulic pump for my trim tabs and my water/fuel separator. My stereo speakers are also mounted to the front of each box. The '87 my dad owned had deep removable trays that dropped into the boxes. Mine unfortunately does not have these. I liked them b/c they made good places to keep bait, rigged trolling lures, etc.

I was thinking about cutting the whole deck and having a drop in cooler like the big Hatteras boats. Right now they are a little small to store much but junk.
Craig thats a good idea on the washdown though.

Thanks guys for the response....
I know somewhere out there someone has done something really useful with those boxes and I'm bound to find it..

I have much the same stuff in my boxes...including wet dock lines but Craig I do like that idea about the hydrocoil hose....I think thats what its called..Good idea just wish some of their dedicated mounting systems were a little cheaper....

Anyone else ….. other ideas??
