D.H.
I know the whereabouts of a 23' windshield seacraft. It was a I/o. It's sitting in a garage The only thing is someone took a saw-all to the bottom to get the motor out. Also cut out some of the deck for more work room. Price tag is 3-500.00. What I want to know is that can you take a sceptre and turn it into a C/C. Also I do know that you can fix just about anything on a boat with the right glass work/time/$. Would this boat be worth picking up? Any thoughts on this matter would be appreciated. Thanks, Steve P.s. anybody can jump on this topic. |

Hi Steve
When you say they cut up the bottom do you mean as cut through the hull???? Thats scary!!!! Depends on how much you want to get into a serious project.... I'm not going to venture a guess as to if its worth it or not to get it to a center console.....but like you said if you have time and lots of it .... and if you have money and lots of it sure you can do anything. I know my little project is getting up there in cost and I'm not ripping out a cabin or putting in a new console etc.....I would consult with Trayder on hull and deck restoration since he's living it right now .... and now I'm considering that bracket I know when I tell some people what I'm doing they look at me like I have three heads....thing of it is I have been in boats my entire life and love working with them.... Bottom Line when I'm done with the restore and able to use the boat .... I'm really going to miss doing all the work that I've been doing......Hmmm where's that boat???? just kidding!! HA STEVE
IF YOU WANT TO PUT THE TIME IN IT YOU CAN CONVERT IT TO A CENTER CONSOL. BUT LOTS MORE WORK CUTTING OUT THE CAP AND THEN RE MAKING ANOTHER ONE THAT YOU WOULD LIKE. IF THE BOAT IS CHEEP ENOUGH AND YOU DON’T MIND PUTTING IN 1 YEAR OF TIME TO RE DO THE WHOLE BOAT GO FOR IT. THERE ARE LOTS OF 23 CC OUT THERE THAT DON’T NEED TO MUCH WORK DONE ON THEM AND YOU WOULD PROBABLY SPEND LESS $$$ OVERALL ON THEM AND BE IN THE WATER IN NO TIME AT ALL. JUST MY THOUGHTS I HAVE BEEN REDOING A 23 CC NOW FOR ONE YEAR AND COUNTING. RE DID THE DECK, CAP, AND TRANSOM. FELLOW-SHIP |

Hello Steve-
Of course it can be done. The hole in the bottom would probably be the easy part . Fixing the deck portion may not be so easy. For 300 to 500 dollars though it may be worth your while if you did not already have a nice 23???. Why would you want to undertake the project. I think it would be hard to convert and sell to make a profit. I think it would make sence if you were to keep it and use her. Again it would be a ton of work but it could be done!. You know who would really know? "The Other Tom". He turned this: ![]() Into this: ![]() He is "THE MAN" |

Steve,
I like the idea of starting with a shell because when you are done you know what you have below decks etc.You can get rid of all wood and start new with foam coring etc.The hole on the bottom does not worry me.The beauty of fiberglass is you can allways repair/replace it back to very close to original if not better. Fellow-ship:
Is this your 1st seacraft rebuild ?. IF it is you'll want to do another after this one is in the water. When you look back you'll say that wasn't so bad. hummmmmmmm. maybe just one more. Scott: Yes; cut out the bottom to drop the motor. I guess they didn't want anyone to see that they had stolen the boat. That's why they did it in a garage{no head room}. Trayder---HD. Now that I have one in the water and useing it. Another one [project] wouldn't be so bad to do. I can take my time and have lot's more fun doing a 2nd. Haveing no time & being broke [almost]that never stops me, I will find another one to do.really like to find a 25'. Just like Trayder-but in a SEACRAFT lol, you lucky dog you. |
