A friend repowered his 23 fter with a 225 hp. 4 stroke. Went out for a ride with him yesterday. One word--DOG.Sluggish hole shot, worked really hard in a 3 ft. following sea.Top end was o.k.-41mph. per gps.

Thats what everyone says when going to a 4 stroke. The inline engines have some better get up then the V engines. The best thing to do is run a boat with a 4 stroke on it to be sure you like it. Plus a opti max hpdi or ficht outboard would have been cheaper then the 4 stroke plus burn less gas and have twice the punch.

SECF-- 3 words of advice on a 23ft.
Twin 115/140 Suzuki's. 3mpg cruise. 1 gph trolling. 25.5 knot cruise at 4k burning 10.5 total. 37-38 knot top end. Very good hole shot. No smoke, no oil. 8 or 10 people in my boat 4th of July, still came out of the hole easy. Plenty of power up and down seas. Lot's of nice compliments. Same price as a single 225/250. Bye the way. Just changed my plugs after 150 hours on my flats boat with a 60hp Suzuki 4 stroke. Cost me 6 bucks.

I am thinking of repowering my 23 with twin 140 suzuki four strokes. Were those numbers with 115's or 140's? On a bracket?

Dont forget to check out your local Johnson dealer. THese are the same engine and I like the white engine over the darker color. In my eyes the white engine looks better plus salt is harder to see on a white engine. On a 23 footer I would go with the 140s.
