I need some help here. I have a 23' CC with an outdrive. I have sprung a leak somewhere and can't seem to find it. I have ruled out the drive there definately isn't any water coming through here. Also I have ruled out the actual hull so I have come to the possible conclusion that it is the deck drains. How can I be sure and where would I see that water coming in? Also I have ruled out the one through hull that I have (washdown/baitwell). Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks |

Regards your leak, I have spent the last 9 months getting to know my 78 sceptre that I have been rerigging. My deck drains were cracked where they came through deck. It trickled through my stringer forward of the transom. The pvc flange cracked at the junction with the deck. Temporary fix was to insert small piece of pvc pipe into drain and 5200 to drain pocket. It stopped the leak. As you end up with wet feet thanks to the drains I insert rubber 3/4 plugs to the outboard side when fishing the boat. Had to make starboard earmuffs for each side of my outboard to keep the waves out of the splash well. Wish I knew of this site before I started It save lots of guesswork.

NJ fisherman-
I would first try removing and then reseating each thru hull with 5200. Then, if your boat is still leaking....move on to the deck drains and replace or reroute them as necessary. By doing it systematically, you'll be able to isolate the problem. Good luck. |
