Thanx John R- and northern friends for finally pushing the big fish down here. Looks like the season is getting off to a late start but better late than never- here is my report from the fishing board I frequent-
Sorry Capn Joe but another rockfish report- hopefully a tog report next week......So After a couple of slow days (like 3 in a row) with few quality fish and a lot of dinks I felt like taking a break today. But that wind was just dead again this morning,again the phone rang around 9 and after a shower was ready to go again. Got to CH around 1030 ish ,marked some good bait and were soon catching. 5 minutes in the wire started screaming and had a nice 44" release. We fished pretty much the same area, 1/2 to 1 mile off the beach the rest of today. The fleet soon figured it out and before long there were probably 100/150 boats in the same area. Ended up with 5 over 40" including (2)41,42,43" fish. Thanx to (Plumbob-Tim for helping us to try and figure out what the release size is for now and sorry for bothering you at work!). Caught several more 30+'s and not too many dinks. Best day for Mike and myself this season by far. Fish were hitting blue/white tomics, fire tiger super shad raps, and one big dummy actually hit a 26oz in-line sinker(mojo) with a shad tail on the back. Had to kill a 42" fish that was bleeding badly. As long as we could stay on bait we caught fish, we managed to do that real well today.
Have to give the guy in the 25 Parker out there today a tip of the hat. Out there by himself,He singlehandely caught fish all day , ran the boat, netted, deployed lines, jigged, and stayed right in the thick of the boats all day. Dont know how he did it. LOL-

Miles - we didn't have anything to do with it. I had my worst fall ever including getting skunked my last 4 trips. I go out the Sunday b4 T-day and pic up something between 20-30#s for the following Thursday but not this year.

So you just leave those gals back in the water so I get a crack at 'em come May [img]images/icons/smile.gif[/img]

Man, I hate winter, rain and low 40's now, and a real dive in the temp predicted for this week.

Thanx guyz, Ill try and keep catching and releasing but no guarantee's when that 50+" comes along. Wore em out again yesterday but no slobs. The word is that a lot of big fish are still heading down from Jersey and have yet to arrive !!! Fishing in T-shirts yesterday but that will change tomorrow!!! Hooper, that pic is of my younger son with his first Va. Citation a couple of years ago. If I remember right the fish was ~44". Thanx for asking though, here is the blown up version:

Oh - when I get a Fifty its coming home too [img]images/icons/smile.gif[/img] ... Still waiting to get a 40 pounder, best to date is 37 pounds/45+ inches from the beach...
