Default Retrun from road trip

Just got back from Pensyl-Tucky where my boat has been stuck for the last two weeks. Got there Friday night in the snow, and woke up to 2 inches on the ground. I hadn’t planned on cold weather!

Anyhow, I’m really pleased with the boat. It’s all original and everything seems solid except for the transom. I kind of figured that based on the pictures- MY TSUNAMI It has a Ford 302-4 barrel Mercruiser 225 TR II power plant/outdrive. Actually still had the original Mercuiser operator’s manual.

Bad news is the trailer is basically spent. It was an aluminum trailer with tandem axles. One wheel came off, and another was almost gone. One bunk was shot because of carpenter ants or something. One cross brace is broken. When I got there, the entire frame was only about 5 inches off the ground. I couldn’t get a bottle jack under it. The boat is now on boat jacks in the stern, and blocks of wood under the bow. This really sucks since I’ll now have to lay out the cash for a new trailer, wait for delivery, pay for storage, and then drive 6 hours there to get it under the boat. Oh well, live and learn.

If that "70's show" were to have a Seacraft I think your boat would be the star ...

So what are you going to do with the 20? And are you going to do the same with the 23? Gonna be more fun getting the 23 past the big rock at Quonnie

Jim,
Two questions - Is that a solar fan on the forward deck? What are the 2 metal plates on the transom for?

It figures that the boat came from Wisconsin painted in that color!! Can you say "Cheesecraft"?

Jim,
Glad you made it back OK. I see what you mean about the trailer. Old Rolls it looks like, used to see a lot of them in FL years ago. Interior cabin area looks pretty good. With that full transom she looks like a good candidate for a bracket and outboard. What route are you planning on going?

Jim ...Glad to hear things are starting to get straightened out ... I'm curious .... The wheels on the trailer look a bit small ....even low profile or is that the result of the trip ...
I do have to go to the eye Dr's today so... but they still look rather small...

I think you need a set of 18" chromed rims ... hmmmm

I'm going to keep my 20 and use it a lot this summer. If and when I ever get this 23 in the water, I would probably sell the 20. It was probably the same feeling Otto had when buying his second SC, I just couldn't pass up the deal.

From what I saw, the boat is in MUCH better shape than my 20 when I first got her. I pulled back some of that headliner in the cabin and was suprised to see the original PINK fiberglass, not that "black" death stuff. She must have spent some time indoors.

The thing on the foredeck is a vent of some type. the boat has never been bottom painted, and it spent some time on davits, hence the Aluminum plates. The hull appears to have been painted from the chine up, or at least in some spots.

Regarding the trailer: Can anyone identify the brand by the torsion axles? Its a weird setup with hexagon axles and mounted as one piece. My guess is the trailer was too small to begin with. I measured 22ft for total length of the Aluminum "I" beams. The bunks were extended about 3 or more feet. What do you guys think?

You can view the trailer here TRAILER

Jim

That trailer is a "Float-On" made in Ft. Pierce, Fl. They since have moved to Vero Beach, Fla.
(url attached)
The give away is that Bow Hook release and the trailer "U" bar. Thay have a patent on the bow catch and hook and their I-Beam / Torsion Suspension axels. You can only get parts from them if you own the trailer.

Good Luck with your refurbishing

Chucks right on the money with the trailer brand. I origionally thought it was a rolls but he's right. There was a time here in FL that they were really popular. Low profile and easy to load. Really good for shallow crappy ramps. But don't loose a tire or wheel on the road. Parts are a major PIA.

No bottom paint? thats an unusual plus.
