Seems to me thie bilge blower motor on my Seafari should be set up to PULL fumes up and out of the bilge, and out of the boat, as opposed to blowing air down there, to displace fumes from the bilge but not get them out of the boat. But since it's called a bilge BLOWER and not a bilge vacuum, just thought I'd ask. The only concern I see with sucking out fumes with the blower is having combustible fumes going through something electric. What do you guys think?

I actually was quoted Coast Guard engine room ventilation in a survey of my other boat. In it they describe that fresh air from forward facing vents should ventilate the engine room, while the blower (actually sucking air from) should be piped to the lower area of bilge and vented into aft facing vents.....or that was the jist of the instructions. My gas inboard lobster boat had it reversed, hense the long detailed instructions from the survey to fix it correctly.
Hope this helps..... are you still talking about a diesel I/O in a Tsunami? -Sean |

Sean-
that's how I set it up, makes the most sense to me. I'll be looking at Tsunamis this winter, and some downeasters, and who knows what else.......but for now I'm going to see how this Seafari works out. The Seafari will keep me plenty busy for now, and I'm going to try to get as many big stripers over the rails (and back in the water) as I possibly can before the season ends! It always gets a little frantic this time of year. Steve
