Re: 1973 23 CC Restored in 1995
I like the way he did the grab rails on the boat. I have been wanting to replace my original grab rails for a long time now but since I have no confidence nor the proper tools to make the 90 degree turn in stainless steel at the bow of the boat I have been waiting to figure out what to do. I also didn’t want to spend twice or three times as much for a pipe welder to custom make them for me. Looks like I have a alternative, I know I can make those rounded curves in the tubing (port and starboard) to make it fit properly. I sure wish I saw this stuff just before Christmas I took off 10 days for some family and “FISHING” fun but wound up land locked duo to 6-9 foot Seas for 9 days in a row. I did catch one Sailfish and some kings the first day but that was it.

Re: 1973 23 CC Restored in 1995
Hello, I am the owner of the 1973 Seacraft. I was excited to find the site. I did not know there were too many boats still out there. I intend to post more photos in the near future. She was fully restored in 1995 and now has a full transom with bracket/platform. Unfortunately, I had to repeat some work last year for another big investment. I purchased a 2000 Yamaha 250 in 2002. She has plenty of power but I am limited to about 43 MPH full out. She is heavier than original. I will be glad to answer questions and will try to get more photos very soon.

Awl Grip. I was told the blue is an original color. From some old photos it looks as if it may have been origianlly all white.

Always happy to see a fellow treasure coast SeaCrafter. Hope you can make the get together in April after the Dania flea market? BTW: Your Potter stickers are in the mail Capt Chuck

I viewed the photos of the restoration performed on your craft and noticed ours were done the same. I have the same live well in the transom and the same access doors.

I just found a number of the fittings that you will need if you change the grab rail, as you are suggesting. Send me a PM if you are interested. Dink |

I'm trying to figure a way to get a "chip" off the hull this spring, or to find a spot that won't matter, and send it off to get color matched (gel coat) .... Maybe off the transom ...I just want to minimize the damage and subsequent repair to the hull (not to mention the cosmetic repair ...Now that I think about it...it might be easiest to take a "chip" from below the water line and behind bottom paint. That would be easy to patch and no cosmetic issues ... Wonder if I can shave off just the gelcoat sample and not disturb the structural glass below ?? |
