Default Briguy's 1978 23' CC refit pix aka boat porn!

After redoing my transom, adding a
bracket and getting it 90% done,
I've decided to let a professional
take over. It's somewhat scary to
see your poor boat taken apart to
such a degree but you know how it
goes..... I have now decided to
change the hull to Awlgrip sky blue,
add a new 95 gal fuel tank, ss rubrail,
pop up cleats, cockpit bolsters,
repair a small crack in the bow,
add 5 gunnel rodholders and a thu hull
pickup for the baitwell. Here are some
pix of the work in progress. Perhaps
a splash by 4th of July at the latest.

The hull being stripped down to bare white gel coat removing all the sunfast red awlgrip

Here the fuel tank has been removed and the area
prepared for an epoxy coated 95 gallon cell.
This will hopefully move some weight from the
stern of the boat. A bulkhead will be added
behind the tank and we are exploring
storage alternatives where the back
of the old tank was.

Cleats being removed, ground down, refilled and readied for Accon pop up cleats.

I hope to keep adding over the next several weeks. I tried 6x to get the size right but this is the best I could do my first attempt.

Brian,
Do you have any pix of the arch on your console? I'm thinking of having one made for my Seabird and I'm looking for ideas. Thanks.

Brian, those pictures bring back memories. Especially the one without the tank. That's a lot of work to get done in a month, but it can be done with the proper amount of beer! I meant for you, not the guys working on the boat. Good luck and keep the pictures coming. - PF

Soon I will have pix of the interior. She is in the process of getting an SS bowrail. The paint is Sky Blue Awlgrip and the bottom paint it Pettit Vivid White.

OK here we go-------------just got the boat back and I will try my best to post the right size pix.

We were going to just take the boat down with 80 grit and then spray new Awlrgip however the old Awlgrip was never really done correctly so we ended up Sanding with 80,120, 180 then 400 before priming. The result was awe inspiring.

After my attempt at redoing the transom was undone, here you can see it coming together.

Now you can see the hours of fairing and sanding have really paid off as the sky blue looks smoooooth!

Ok here comes the pretty stuff.

First a new SS rubrail. I would never ever ever ever put anything different on a 23 SC. It looks awesome!

OHHH THAT CLASSIC SEACRAFT TRANSOM.

Pleanty of room for several fisherman to haul a couple big 'uns up onto the deck. I will be adding my leaning post as soon as I spray dye the vinyl.

Added 3 new rodholders across the transom for trolling etc and two up on the bow for live baiting Tarpon or Sailfish.

EVERY fly fisherman/woman needs pop up hardware. I went with 4 1/2 inch accon spring cleats as well as Accon hardware up front. One 10"(remember my "is 10 inches too big?" post? Well here I have one mounted along with Accon pop up chocks and a light. For those interested, I have one left over 10" cleat for sale.

Everything in the business end of the boat looks neat and clean.
