Default West Coast Seacrafts

When I bought my Seacraft I thought it was a pacific Seacraft, the conpany that became Cabo. They made a walkaround. But when I saw it in person I almost backed out of the sale. Then I got a good look at it and towed it home. I hope to take it out next week.
Then overhaul the whole boat over the winter. I never heard of Seacraft and had no idea of such a cult like following. I don't know how I never heard of such a fine little boat. My real question is are there many seacrafts on the west coast. I would like to hear from you guys out in So Cal also known as granola land because what aint fruits and flakes is nuts.

BigMike,
Pacific Seacraft still exists as a sailboat and trawler builder. Cabo was formed by a couple guys that either worked for or started Pacific Seacraft (can't remember which). As you know by now, there aren't any similarities between our SeaCrafts and the west coast Pacific Seacraft other than the fact they are both boats . There are a couple members of this site from Cali, namely Strick and Bigshrimpin. I think they live in northern CA.

Right Scott, The owners sold out Pacific seacraft and started Cabo yachts in Adalanto CA. They are a few miles from my house. They made a nice line of sailboats that could be bought as kits or complete. About the time they sold they started the little walkaround and I had heard that they made a few as pacific seacraft, although I'm not sure if thats true. But when they sold out they moved to Fulerton and the first Cabo's were 26 ft walkarounds then moved to the desert to make big boats. They are not allowed by contract to make sailboats.
I was hopping that the info given to me was wrong and it was a cabo 26.That had the name pacific seacraft on it. Kinda hunting the mythological unicorn.
the people at Cabo realy know how to service people. I walked in looking and smelling like a homeless person because I had just spent five hours fixing a big machine for a customer. They trated me like the president. All I wanted was a brochure and I got a tour of the plant.

Mike,
I read a really interesting article about Cabo in a boatbuilding trade magazine last year (can't remember name of mag). It's quite a success story. The interesting part is reading their explanation of building boats in the desert. It certainly doesn't seem to hurt business any.

What model did you buy? They are very few and far between over here. That makes it much more fun when you finally see one. Bigshrimpin and I saw an old 20cc with the ancient metal seacraft emblum on the side a while back. Good eye Tim. I would have drove right by it had you not spotted it first.

I have a 23 walkaround. It was in a auction yard in St Lucy FL. I had my freind put a bid on it and got it for $1300.oo paid him a little for time and service.
The info I had was it was a total and had been submerged. The cusions were dry and the motor turned over so I don't think it was even close to submerged.
The most damage was on the sides of the deck from being flexed in. Most likely between two bigger boats. The hull showed no damage or flexing but the lip of the deck is somewhat weak.
I have reinforced and repaired all the damage. This winter I will do a complete rebuild and add two motors 4 cycles a bracket , fill in the trasom and paint the entire boat.
I have two other boats but like this best. I make lures and sell other products so this is my new tournament boat.

I am hopefully going to check out a boat for sale in your neck of the woods - it is a 1973 20' model in Concord I believe. I live in El Sobrante. Any specifics I should be looking at with this year/model- I don't beleive it has been refurbished and i will have it surveyed if i decide to buy it.

Thanks,

Brian
