Default Tsunami ...Sceptre whats the difference?

I am the former owner of a 1973 Tsunami, sad to say I sold it 5 years ago! It went to Woods Hole MA the name was Reliant if any one knows it. Anyway I am looking for another 23 cuddy i/o.

Does anyone know if there is a difference between the Tsunami and the Sceptre???

Also how come I dont see any bravo 3 drives on the boat? It should make a huge diff in performance and economy???

Any thoughts or help would be appreciated!

The Sceptre and Tsunami are the same boats. If I understand correctly, in 1974 they changed the name from Tsunami to Sceptre for infringement reasons. At that time there was a boat company called Tsunami.

jcm1,
Welcome to the site. lost2a6 hit the nail on the head - there is no difference in the boats, only a name change due to legal issues. I know of a couple 23 Sceptre I/O's for sale near me. Where are you located?

The Bravo 3 is a nice drive. You probably don't see many on the Sceptre because of the relatively low number of I/O versions on the water. My buddy has one on his 24 Silverhawk and it works great. Better hold on to something if you nail it in reverse though because it'll throw you to the deck.

Jim,
That's the boat I was going to tell you about. I've only lived in Marshfield for 3 months so I don't know anything more than what's mentioned in the advertisement.

I own a 23' 1975 Tsunami re-done with a 5.7 300HP freshwater cooled Mercruiser and a Bravo 3. I've written about it extensively on this site. Boat rides and handles like a dream !

Not exactly sure - but I "estimate" about 6-8 gph @ 3200 RPM's ( about 28-30 mph, based on speedometer ).

The setup is clean and great for the hull. I am spinning 24" pitch props at amax of 4500 RPM's. She boogies, fully loaded, full fuel ( 70 gallons ) at about 45 mph - faster on a glass-flat, day.

Scott I hope to look at that boat labor day weekend, I will be in Bostson with my wife and the boy. I want him to grow up with the same boat I did! My father had a 75 Sceptre with twin 165 Mercruisers in line 6 cylender engines, red hull just like the performance test boat!!! Cooler seat, I can remember standing on the foot rest to see over the glove box! GREAT BOAT & MEMORIES

I hope to have one soon to start restoring it, any one who knows of them let me know! I saw an inboard model Tsunami in Montauk!
