Default Bracket on a 20 Master Angler

On the rebuild pages, I see that all of the 20's are not bracketed boats, instead the owners rebuild the existing transom and maybe add 5 inches.

Are there any owners who can comment on stats pre and post bracket. I see mot of the 23 owners do replace thier "open" transoms with closed transoms and brackets.

Any suggestions/comments welcome.

Grady-

welcome to the site.

I have a 20 and was planning on putting a bracket on her but due to the size of the bracket my boat would no longer fit in the garage.

I also am not a fan of the aesthetics of the 20 with a bracket. The bracket is overpowering size wise. According to Bill Potter who brakceted his 20 overnighter the performace is improved speed and efficiency wise with his seamark bracket.

do a search on the site as this topic comes up frequently.

welcome aboard

Thanks for the reply. I didn't know who you were until I was told! You have the nicest picture documentary around.

Maybe I won't use an Seamark bracket, instead maybe a armstrong or stainless marine bracket. If the Seamark is soo big why not go with another brand.

My main reason I want the bracket is so that the transom of my boat will be higher in the water, and so that the transom itself will be totally closed, which would add a significant degree of safety.

I still have time to research before I make my decision.

I used the search function, but it's odd how it works....too many irrelevant hits!

Grady- Thanks for the kind words but I should be smacked for missing some key photos towards the end of my project. After 2 years I had enough and had to finish it so I worked hard but realled slacked off in regards to keeping the photyo journal. I klnow I have more pics somewhere but I have given up looking and now enjoy using the boat.

Thanks Tayder. I appreciate the info. Your boat came out beautiful, not only aesthetically, but the plumibng electrical, and other stuff that one normally "does not see" was also done with excellence. Thats the true mark of a craftsman.

I think I'll go against the bracket. I'll raise the transom 5 inches and engineer a clever new motorwell splash guard.

I'd like to see pics of how you finished off the stern section of your boat, espeically the motor well area.

Thanks guys, I promise you all a great picture gallery.

Oh two more questions, do all the 20's have trouble with water coming back through the stern scuppers? I've read of some people rasing the floors on thier 20's to avoid this, but I'm also inclined to think that these are the 20's that run bracketed outboards.

Sorry for all the questions, I'm a long time fisherman, but new to the Sea Craft family! I always knew they were great boats, just didn't know much about thier particularities.

Second question: Is the deadrise at transom 24 degrees? I know these boats ride well, just wondering how well.
