Yamaha 150's Water Pumps?

I started my Grady with twin Yamaha 150 2 strokes today. They started fine and sounded great. Only thing was there was no water coming out from the water pump jets. I believe it is because there is not enough pressure from the ear muffs or whatever it's called, to feed the pump and get a stream of water. Question is am I right or should I be concerned? The water pumps were replaced in Spring of 2005 and boat was hardly used. I purchased it in the fall.

I had the same issue one time last year (I too have twin 150 Yamahas). It never happened again.

I think I'd be a little concerned - I regularly rinse off after a trip to the salt water, and flush the motor with the ear muff's on a garden hose, and always get a good stream out of the tell-tale - when the motor is running - hose pressure alone isn't enough to do that.

maybe some deposits inside dried up and clogged it over the winter? don't know, but I'd want to double check that before going out.

Peter, was it just the fact they weren't getting enough pressure? Or did you replace the water pumps?

This is going to sound stupid. I did nothing.

In fact I think that I was getting too much pressure at this one place.

Here are a couple of things you can do. Try it again. Turn up/turn down the water. Try running the boat briefly in the water to see if the pee.

The fact that both engines are doing kind of suggests that it is probablu not the water pumps. Just my 2 cents.

True, if their both doing it, it is likely something other than the pumps. Thanks. Well all I need now is nice weather!!

If you would stick a piece of wire or something narrow and sharp into the pee holes where the water is suppose to come out it will usually take care of your problem.Allot of times it just get's some sand or dried salt in the hole and blocks the hole up.I keep a piece of stiff leader wire on my rocket launcher just for that reason as it really is quite common on Yamaha two strokes.Make sure you have water running to the engine before trying to un-clogg the holes where the water shoots out.
