Just Purchased 20' CC ????
I just purchased a 1989 20CC Seacraft. All I know is what I just typed pretty much. I know it was produced by Tracker Marine so all you old school guys have pity on me as I need a bit of info. Looking at the specs on the new 20's and the old 20's the length is 19'6"approx.. The new 21's measure 20'5". My boat measures out at 20'6" but says 20cc on the console. I'm a bit confused about that as I'm trying to repower and concerned about out the weight.
Let me also say the boat has a big honking ugly console that is way out of proportion for the hull. What were these people thinking? If anyone has a line on a smaller console for this thing please let me know. My real question is that I'm looking for specifics. Was the boat built during a transitional period? What is the actual weight and would a 150hp 2stroke be sufficient power for it? Any and all help, opinions or sneers would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Beau |

Without knowing where you are located, suggesting a console source could be difficult.
A 150hp 2-stroke will get the job done nicely. |

Re: Just Purchased 20' CC ????
Beau,
The 150 motor will be just about perfect. Maybe a little heavy since it is a v6. Make sure you move the batteries and other stuff up under the console. Scuppers under water may still be an issue though. You could always use the ping pong ball type scuppers. Most people say good things about those. Some people have the yamaha 130 2s and some have the suzuki 140 4s. They say that both of those motors push the boat great and get great fuel mileage. As far as the console goes, I would check out marine connection liquidators, http://www.marconlq.biz/, some have found pathfnder consoles to fit pretty good. Trayder has one in his boat. You could always do like I'm doing. Its a lot of work for an old style console (no flush mount electronics) but to me its better than forking over another $400 to $600 for a console. Re: Just Purchased 20' CC ????
I threw away the old console (the 36" wide variety that I imagine you have) and created a custom one that is 28" wide that Wildfire Marine can duplicate for you if you are interested (they can be reached at 772.286.1925). Here is what mine looks like now:

Re: Just Purchased 20' CC ????
Will and Ikan thanks for the advice. I've already considered cutting down the existing console. Will, I'd like to see your's when your done, let me know I'm from around Lafayette and maybe I could come by or send me a pic. I'll try the other resources before I make a decision. Sounds like I'll be going with a 115 on the motor.

Re: Just Purchased 20' CC ????
As Mark indicated, a 150 HP 2 stroke would be an excellent motor for that hull.
I think someone has a used small console for sale on this forum. Your "big" console has some value as well.

Tracker introduced the SC 21 in the late '90s, which is a different hull than the 20 you have. The new 21 is essentially a 23 with 2 feet lopped off the back. Your '89 very well could be 20'6" LOA, but it's considered a 20 even though it's 1 inch longer than the new 21. |
