T-top for 18' SC
I am looking for advice on t-top size for a '78 18' boat. I have looked at other boats and a lot of people seem to go with a 5'x7' size, right now I have a 6' long bimini top and it does seem a bit short. Anybody have this boat, or the 20' please give your opinions on sizes that you have on your boats. I want decent sun coverage but I dont want to overdo it for the size boat.

Re: T-top for 18' SC
You have to go with what works for you. There is no rule of thumb on size. Yes I understand you do not want to look goofy for the size of the boat. What type of fishing
(if you fish) do you do? do you dive? or what ever your general purpose of the boat is. Do you want your electronics over head? Take all those things into consideration and discuss it with a good fabricator. Look at other boats, take measurements and pictures. It will all fall into place. Good Luck, See ya, Ken

Re: T-top for 18' SC
I fly fish a bunch so I went with tops that were only about as wide as the console on both my 18' and 20'. both tops are between 5-6' long from front to back and around 36" wide. I personally thought the beam on these two models was too narrow to go with the 5x7' that many shops have as standard. Here are some pix of my two boats:
1977 SeaCraft 18' - 1971 SeaCraft 20' - and in use you can see that it doesn't stick out too far beyond my 28" wide console, for a total width of 36" - |
