shaft length
We want to install a floatation bracket on our '78 23 foot SeaCraft. We have a 250 4-stroke Suzuki with a 25" shaft. Will that work?

Sure it will work as long as you set the bracket at the correct height. The rule of thumb for brackets is for every foot you go farther behind the boat, you have to raise the engine up 1". So for a 24" setback, go up 2". The reference on the outboard is the cavitation plate which is the large plate right above the propeller. That wants to be in line with the plane of the bottom of the hull with no bracket and up from that 2 inches on a 24" setback bracket. Hope that helps.

It would depend on the height of the bracket's transom as well...some can run 25 inch shaft motors with twins but need a 30 inch shaft for a single. Brackets with a good amount of rise front to back on the bottom would work....
