Default Through Hull Transducer

I have one that was on the boat when I got it, it now has a Lowrance 498 depth finder with a transom mount ducer. I would like to indentify the unit and maybe try and use it since Airimar makes almost all of them maybe it will work with the proper connector. It looks like a standard ducer that I have seem a hundred times, football shape with the round black sender, any ideas where a number might be??

It is probably a standard at the time but I'm sure they have changed them over time, I went to Airmar and most will work with the Lowrance, at least the ones they make now.

Dixon,

When I bought my new old SeaCraft earlier this year it came with a thru hull ducer for a monochrone Raymarine L750 FF.

By looking at the Raymarine catalog I was able to figure out which ducer it was. I then contacted a fellow CSC member, Jim at BOE Marine (on thehulltruth). Jim was able to tell me which new color Raymarine units would work with my ducer. I also spoke to Airmar. Airmar said it would not work with any new raymarine color FF whereas Jim disagreed. I followed Jim's advice and bought a Raymarine DS600X. Also, I needed a special pigtail adapter.

It works like a champ.

Good luck.

Peter

Don't get rid of that old fishfinder yet. I had some serious bad luck with those DS600x . . . failed 3x's in less than 9 months (all replaced under warranty). It was a great unit when it worked . . . but after ruining enough planned fishing trips (during vacation time) I ripped it off and ebayed the last refurb unit they sent me.

Actually, I have held onto the old unit. Hopefully I do not need it.
