Default 23' Tsunami picture of under floor layout ?

I tried recently to re-run replacement transducer cables from my stern to to the helm with the help of a tag line I had left from doing it the first time - it did not work.

I could not even get a wire snake through, it kepy getting jammed up. When I ran the cables the first time, the hatch and the fuel tank were up and out, so access was easier.

Is there a trick to this ? I tried the tape and pull w/ the old transducer cable too - kept on getting jammed tight !

So, if anyone has an idea how to do this, or a picture of the area under the floor (i.e. floor out ), I appreciate it.

Alan, go to one of the home improvement stores in the electrical dept. they carry a cable lubricant. Or you could use plain old dish soap. Lube the wire up real good. I have found that an old shift cable works the best for a snake.
Check out your local marine repair shops as they throw them away daily. Just remove the cable from the jacket. Bend a hook at the end (Small hook) wrap with electrical tape.
Lube up the wire and squirt some in the chase. It should go through. Even if you soap up the old tranducer wire should
work for the snake as well.
Good luck, Ken

Hmm. I couldn't even get a regular snake through - which is really thin, you think a cable shifter type would do the job ? I have heard about lubing the cables up, but man... when I taped the new cable to the old one and tried to pull that way - for a few hours, i got no where!

Is it a clear run from the back to the front, or are there bends that the cable would have to make ? The bee'atch is that my 1/16" tag line must be running in a tough spot ' cause every time I used that, I came to an abrupt halt!

In the cc, there is a bend in the conduit right at the front of the run and then it straightens out-can you try running the snake from the front to back and then bringing it back to the front?

Abl111,
It may be easier to run your t-ducer cable thru the stbd transom box then up along side the shift cables or hydraulic lines to the dash. Under the Starboard gunnel is a straight shot and you should be able to tie the wire up eaisly. In mine there were a couple of 3" cardboard tubes glassed to the underside of the gunnel to hold everything.

Thx for the responses. I know the gunnel is the easiest. But, all my other wiring was run under the floor, so I was hoping to run these replacement transducers the same.

But, I have opted for the gunnel because it is sooo much easier and the results will be the same - the depth/FF will work fine, all cables will be safe, secured and hidden.

Just one of those frustrating things that you bang your head on until you finally just say, " &^%*&$*& it ! "

AB1111,
On my Sceptre, all electrical, transducer cables and motor controls / wiring are led to the space below the aft-starboard battery lazerette and from there, run forward under the starboard gunnell to the helm and elec panel. Sercured out-of- sight with cable runs and ties. Very easy to access, dry and very tidy.
