23 73 tsunami

just looked at a 23 73 tsunami boats in relativelu good shape decks are solid transom has been redone( not best job but looks ok) . Boat has minor spidering and some chips throughout. it has 2001 225 yamaha salt water series engine with what he says has 400+ hrs on it boat runs real well hatch and door ratlle a bit relatively new bimini and side covers. askin 15500 can get for 13 do you think this is a good deal.

possibly,gas tank? succupers?trailer? live well sealed?wireing?control cables?strering?Bought mine for 7ooowold motor 5year ago did above plus transom 250 suk=20000 plus alot of work but could be happer not a showpiece but get comments all the time.

thanks for the info gas tank was replaced, hydrolis sterring in the boat scuppers and things im not sure transom was redone not great but ok. Engine ran great during test drive have to pressure test and the boat does have a load rite trailer included. has older gps,radio and depth finder i think early 90's all still work. its a broker i just want to know what the boats that age are going for.

As a comparison, I bought my 73 Tsunami about 2 years ago for $10k. It sounds like the hull was in similar condition to what you're looking at but with an older motor and fewer extras. It seems fair to me.

You'll love the boat. I like mine more and more each time we go out.

Another comparison, July 2006, 1978 Sceptre, 1998 225hp Suzuki (w/359 hrs), E-Z loader trailer for $7,300. The tramsom needs to be replaced but I have put 125 hours on the motor with no problems.

Endured's comparison brings up a good point. Geography seems to make a real difference in prices. Boats seem to get cheaper the farther south you go. A good deal in New England is probably overpriced in Florida.

thanks for the help boat is in cape may, real nice boat broker owns it and seems a bit of a scammer. With the exception of the spider cracks and the shotty repair jobs and a bad repair job on the hull under the trailer hook in front where someone smashed it into the dock the boat is fine. solid deck, real clean. only thing im worried about is engine he bought a trade in from a yamaha dealer and hasnt put more than 50hrs on it but he doesnt know how many where onit when i bought it and he is firm at 13 for a 34 year old hull with a 6 yrs old engine? bit nervous to pull trigger on this buy

In that area, you may be able to find a member who would go look at it with you. You could also make an open ended offer in case he changes his mind come Nov/Dec and decides he'd rather take your price than keep sitting on it all winter.

Is that boat at a farm with several others??? Or is it yellow with yellow combing pads...??

Just got off phone with guy heading down to pick it up for 11500. VEry excited and the boat will be good for now and in a few years i can completely restore it and have a brand new boat.
The boat isnt yellow but i know what you talking about i saw that one too. I live on long island and have been looking for a 23 sceptre in good shape but i wanted a potter hull. My dad had one of the first seacrafts on LI in 68 and i grew up on them we had a 79 seafari , 2 ceter consoles and just recently 2001 purchased one of the new seacrafts and it isnt the same as the old ones. Plus marriage and a kid on the way i need something with a porta poti. hopefully it all works out im nervous about trailoring it from nj to li on a trailer ive never used??????
