75 Seafari 20'
New Seafari owner checking in w/ a few pics. Found this up in Quincy MA and bought recently. Repowered in 2000 with a mercruiser 190hp, new gas tank, new wiring, gauges, and some other updates. Right out of a time capsule, apparently sat in a Cape Cod garage for some time. Bigshrimpum provided good advice to me when I got serious about buying a Seafari. And I was in need of good advice as a mostly ragboater w/little to no experience w/stinkpots. Didn't take long to hone in on Seacraft, and I have learned alot in a short time from the frequenters of this forum. Bear with me on pics, 1st time.

and a couple more, all these were taken when I first saw her for sale. The kids want me to name it "Uncalled For", not sure about that.

Nothing wrong with a Seafari!
Pretty clean, give us some #'s with the 190HP, should move nicely along! - Nick |

Re: 75 Seafari 20'
Nick, previous owner said it tops out mid-40's with alum prop, don't know at what rpms that is or fuel use #'s. We'll find out in Spring.

Re: 75 Seafari 20'
rhody - welcome to the Seafari - you'll find it's a great handling boat, and surprisingly sea worthy, for it's size.
Looks like you got a real nice clean one there ! welcome !! Bill |

Re: 75 Seafari 20'
Welcome to the site - that's a clean looking rig! Looks like that V-6 saves considerable space compared to the old I-4! Probably room to install a larger fuel tank if needed.
I've owned my Seafari over 32 years. It's the most versatile 20' model - fishing, cruising, diving, camping - they can do it all. The later models like yours have a different windshield and a better cabin top layout than the earlier ones. A couple of observations: The aft rollers on trailer should be under the transom; not sure, but it looks like your boat could come forward on trailer a foot or so - you have room to move the winch stand. Would increase trailer tongue weight which generally makes for more stable towing. Also, I prefer having the VHF antenna on port side so it's not in the way if I have to get on the bow in a hurry to handle an anchor. You can also brace antenna and bimini top off the side of the windshield to take some of the bending load off the deck - I posted some photos a couple of months ago showing how to do this.

Re: 75 Seafari 20'
Thanks Bushwacker. I was wondering why the engine cover looks oversized, they could have lopped a foot off it and had room to spare. It has a new 38 gal tank, imagine Ill stick with that for the time being.
The boat is at the local canvas guy now for fitting up a soft top and winter cover but you're right does look like the winch stand needs to come forward from the photo, I will have to check it out. I see what you mean on the antenna, I'll probably take a wait and see next spring before switching over to starboard. A project list can become as long as you let it, need to prioritize based on time/$. Besides the top, it came w/o a door, looks like the teak door kits you see on line is one way to go, and 2nd battery set-up, needs gps/ff, headliner, cushions, etc. Its the etc. that kills you. |

Re: 75 Seafari 20'
Thanks Bill - you're just up the road - and Hermit - now I don't have to wait till spring to see if it floats. No idea that thread existed.
