Default Value on restored 1972 SeaCraft CC

Hello everyone! Just looking for input from experts. We have a completely restored 1972 Potter Built SeaCraft CC that we may want to sell. We are boating industry professionals - both in boatbuilding for over 20 years. That is important because we want everyone to know that the restoration and upgrades on this boats were professionally done. Anyway, the motor is a 1998 150 Merc on an Armstrong bracket, the boat has been tricked out with rod pocket lighting, baitwells, SS rimmed gauges, and lots more. In the restoration (which I will post photos of when I can) the hull was stripped and stringers and transom completely reconstructed. Also has dual axle trailer with new fixtures, rims and tires. Light yellow hull and white gel deck and liner.
It's a beautiful boat, but we have since restored a smaller boat that fits our area better.
Okay, I'm putting it to what I've been told are the experts! What do you think the value is?
Thanks - and everyone have a super day!
From North Florida... Mike and Judy Batten

Pictures....
Sounds like a nice rig!!!
As far as what it's worth, they usually sell for 1/2 what you have in them, and then take 10% off for every year since it was restored. If you have 30k into on, odds are, you won't get much more than 15-20 back out. There are a lot of boats on the market right now, and winter is a tough time of year to sell a boat, even a SeaCraft, in Florida.

What's it worth and what you will get for it are two different things. As you know it is a buyers market right now. One thing that would be very helpful are some pictures.

If you go to the for sale portion of this web site you will see some very clean / restored 20 footers. this will give you a price range.

Since the boat has been redone am i correct in assuming that there is little moisture in either the deck or transom?

Also, what kind of shape are the fuel tnk and wiring in?

Lastly, any idea on the compression numbers & hour numbers on the engine and what are the preformance numbers (cruise, WOT & MPG)?

Wow! Thanks to everyone for replying so quickly! We're Mike and Judy Batten from Perry, FL -- about 50mi SW of Tallahassee.

The boat was restored 2 years ago when when Mike was shop manager of Island Coast Boat Works in Cape Coral, FL (who I might say are experts at SeaCrafts and restoration in general http://www.islandcoastboatworks.com) - new 27 gallon aluminum tank - all new wiring.

Moisture shouldn't be an issue because as I said all construction was done by (fiberglass) professionals.

We both understand clearly the state of the industry! Mike is a plant supervisor for a manufacturer and Judy (me has a small business doing marketing and printed materials for manufacturers. This boat will bring what it will from someone who appreciates the "Classic SeaCraft", not someone looking for a deal. You can steal brand new Aquasports or HydraSports for a lot less right now from desperate dealers, right =O

I'll get pictures up as well as what we have on the engine numbers. I wish I could say it gets great gas mileage, but... I can say she runs like a scalded cat!!!
Look for more details soon.
Again... thanks - have a good one!
Judy and Mike

27 gallon tank is pretty small not much range with that....maybe you can steal an aquasport but you will then have an aquasport not a SEACRAFT!

If you check the past ads you will find out what things are going for. And like stated in the above posts do not get your hopes up for big bucks. The last real nice restored boat had 49k into it, and the man finally sold it for under 29k. This boat was a 23 footer and had all new electronics trailer and 3 year old engine.

The facts are this. The two known values on any boat are the engine, and trailer. They make so many of these that they are a commodity. Anyone can find out the market value for this. The boat is the variable.

Most people who do not know boats would rather buy new and have a warranty, than a 30 year old boat with no warranty.

Seacraft owners want a Seacraft, but will not pay new boat prices for them. They would rather buy an old Seacraft and do over themselves. Pride of ownership and the I did it factor.(that is the neat part)

Check the sight and see which boats SOLD and for how much. This will be your guide. Do not get sucked in by how much people where asking for there boat.

It's easy to see what the "asking" price is, but I don't know how you can find the "selling" price. IMHO, very few of these get 75% of the asking price. There are some boats that have been for sale for over a year. Boats that have older carbed engine, and even some of the early EFI's are taking a beating because of gas prices. I think this is really hurting the resale of some of the Classic..... boats.

Good point. I think what I meant to say is if you check the asking price, and the boat is gone in a few weeks or has 20 or more replies, it is priced right. If you look at the asking price and there are only a few replies, then the price is to high. Or just look at some of the ads, they start out at a high price, drop a few k, drop a few more k and then sell. We may not know the selling price, but I am sure most of us, have a pretty good idea.

I for one have looked at a lot of boats, and one thing that turns me off is a boat that is really nice, the guy is asking a good price, and the motor is 10 years old.

You hit the nail on the head, no one really wants a Carbed 2 stroke.

Wish it had a bigger tank...I know a few people interested in restored 20's, including myself.
