Default Where do you insure your boat???

I currently have mine insured with Progressive because other vendors wanted a full survey due to the age of the boat being a 1973. I could get a survey done but I didnt because i wanted it insured ASAP when i bought it so i would be covered when trailering it home. I could do a survey now but would rather not just due to time constraints.

However it is almost time to renew and I think $1,150 is a bit much for a 20 foot boat that is kept on a trailer.

Who do you use?

Get "agreed value" coverage your premium will be based on that $ value. otherwise if an incedent occurs the ins. co. will depreciate everything they can. If for instance you obtain agreed value coverage on the whole rig, boat, motor trailer, electronics etc. for 20k and it all gets stolen, sunk , wrecked... the ins. co cuts you a check for 20K no dickering about this or that. It may be a good idea to Base your Agreed value coverage amount on what it may cost to replace what you have.

AAA homeowners. Agreed value on my 23 for 30K I don't remember what it costs per month they tack it on my homeowners insurance. It's a lot cheaper then the amount you were quoted for a 20 footer.

We will see what Charter Lakes can do if they call back...

Thanks for the info!
