Hey..ya'll.. I have finally got to the point of rebuiling the transom and Im researching the idea of adding a bracket to the boat.. I need some ifo on brackets and who makes them!
Also I have read about the benefits of them but have not spoken to any one who has actually made the changes. Just want to make sure it will be worth the bucks.. Otherwise I am just going to raise the transom 5" and go from there! Thanks for the help!! |

What boat to you have? If you have a 20cc, there is a big debate on how it affects the balance. BE SURE YOU GET A BRACKET WITH MAXIMUM FLOATATION. Let me say that again. MAXIMUM FLOATATION!!
I would suggest a Hermco fiberglass bracket. It has been well documented that this bracket performs very well on Seacrafts. Good luck, let us know what you do. Lloyd

The 20 SeaCraft in that Gallery is my Seafari. I can send performance data to anyone that wants it if you'll PM me with your e-mail.

I own the 18 Seacraft that Hermco did the work on, I have to say what a difference that made to the boat. The ride on a Seacraft is already well known but this has improved it. I have gone out in 4 to 6 ft seas with that boat, I had a friend following me that day in a 20ft boat and turned around and went home. The best thing about it is that you don't get the water coming in the back of the boat and can backup on a fish without getting swamped. I also was able to install a larger outboard. If you have any questions and want to talk to me PM me and I will give you my number.

Also, Armstrong makes a floatation bracket and I have seen a couple 20's with it on the stern. Is there any big difference between Armstrong's and Hermco's?
Tony, did you find that when running, your 18 seemed more stern heavy? |

Zach, I believe the two main differences are that the hermco bracket is fiberglass, not aluminum, and the chamber or tub, is larger, which gives more flotation. Also the Hermco should be lighter than the armstrong. |
