Re: alpha vs bravo
Alpha tops out around 300HP.....uses dog clutches so it clunks into gear. It does have a smaller torpedo so less drag.
Bravo's can go to 500HP and have cone clutches so they shift pretty smooth. You can also get the Bravo III counter rotating double prop....it's only a lite heavier than a Bravo I and the cost increase is almost nil...EXCEPT for the props. A set of Bravo III props will set you back almost a grand. I have a Bravo I behind a 350 MAG MPI Horizon (closed cooling system) and am happy with it. Be sure to get the right gear ratio...I have a 1.5 and should have went with the 1.6 so I could run a steeper prop and be a little more efficient. |

Re: alpha vs bravo
Pros...lighter weight, less drag, lower cost
cons....dog clutch clunks, upper HP limit is 300. It has an outboard style water pump.....that could be a pro or a con.. |
