Speed on 23 seacraft

I have a 23 SC with twin 200 Yamaha on transom I purcased this boat as a project that came up very very nice we installed new tank, deck and transon is like new. last Sunday was my second ride on this boat. I think that the engines are a litter lower than what they should be because with the twin 200HP the top speed is 52-53 miles at full trim 5400 rpm with 19 mirages and the problem that I have is that I can’t go higher on the engine. Do you thing I will spend more fuel with the engines like that?
This kind of boat is not an speed boat I thing that a soft ride on the SC 23 is around 35-40 MPH
Should I install a bracket? or should I leave it like that at 3500 rpm Speed is arround 33-34 mph and the engine sound relax at that speed
What is the nominal Speed for a 23 SC i mean nice ride? (your opinion)
I would like to know if the stringers for a 23 seacraft were build with wood or foam year 1987

Welcome to the site. The stringers are foam filled fiberglass. As for the speed it seems a little low but I'm no expert. Load will affect speed, so will t-tops. Tight lines.

I have the same setup (twin 200 Yamaha's)on a full flotation bracket. I can get them up to about 57 MPH. I am running 21 x 14 3/4 prop's. I also, have 19 x 15 1/4 props. I will give them another try as I just had the engiens lowered one notch (last summer I raised them two notches, one notch too high).

At cruise (30 MPH to 40 MPH) I get around 1.7 miles per gallon. These are 0X66 engines. If I had HPDI's I suspect that I would get around 2 miles per gallon.

Peter were did you get your bracket and for how much do you think i can get one (full flotation)

Mine came with my boat.

You could buy one new (Hermco/Potter, Armstrong or someone else) or used.

Some of our more talented CSC owners have built their own. If you do a search on this web site, you should see some exellent examples.

Also, if you did put a bracket you can then also enclose the transom (which is another very nice thing to have).

yes i have trim tab let see if i find the way to attach some pic of the SC so you can take a look at it

Well, you are in the best place in the country, in terms of parts and the like (especailly for SeaCrafts).

Are you really thinking of putting on a bracket? if so, will you buy new or used? Also, would you do it yourself or have someone else do it.

Also, would you close the transom at the same time?

On your current setup what is the mininum speed at which you can plane?

Ok Peter you know twin 200 is a lot of power for the sc 23 I think that my boat plane at 14.5 MPH
About putting a bracket I would love to but depend how much more I will have to spend because I already spend more that what I was thinking and I would like to get a used bracket if I can get good price
