Default 2 Part foam?

Does anyone know the proper two part foam to use to install fuel tanks? I tried Kardol and that stuff is junk, just turns to dust under any pressure. Any help would be great. Thanks.

what boat is the fuel tank going into? The coast gaurd is actaully changing there standards on foaming tanks in because of the corrosion issue with foaming of tanks.

SeaCraft never foamed in their tanks. The foam will hold water against the tank and cause corrosion. All tanks had integral brackets & screws to hold them in place.

bushwacker,

I'm not so sure about that. What looked like the original tank in the one owner 76 20 that I bought was foamed in on 5 sides and it had 3 strips of some type of rubber attached to it's bottom.

Check out the brochures in the literature section. For years SeaCraft bragged about not foaming in their tanks and said it required them to ventilate the bilge which added cost, but they did it anyway because it made the tanks last longer. The rubber strips on the bottom were also not B/M. May be the original tank, but someone must have pulled it and added the foam and rubber strips. My boat was also a 1-owner boat; I pulled the tank in 1975 when I bought the 1972 boat. Thank goodness I did because, although there was no foam or rubber strips under it, there WAS a brass nut laying underneath it that had formed a galvanic couple with the aluminum tank and it had started to corrode in that spot. Fortunately I caught it before it got too bad and coated with epoxy primer & paint. Pulled it 2 years ago to inspect and replace hoses during repower; it's still in good shape some 30 years later!
