Default New Addition-1989 WA Family Truckster

I found this on Criags List

I know it's not a classic, but I like the layout for the family.

Looks very nice, the Sceptre was a pain to get up front - after the ladder broke

Hey good job. Now you got the Sceptre size that you always wanted with the walk a round for the kids.

All things said and done, that boat still has nice lines, and the hull will give you the ride you are use to.

Are you bringing this to Desoto?

Yeah, the kids love it! They haven't rode on it yet, I have some things to square away before it's ready for a family outting. The boat runs, it's just desperately in need of attention.

Even if I could get out of going to the boat show, I would bring the '73 20cc to Fort DeSoto, the '89 WA is not ready for prime time.

CaptLloyd - Nice boat. Please post the specs when you take her out . . . Cruise, Top End, Fuel Burn. I'm curious about the numbers.

After getting some wiring and bilge pump issues worked out, I was able to take it out for a little shake down cruise on the Banana River. The boat came with a Floscan, just needed the ground for the sensor connected. The motor is a 1990 200HP Mercury Offshore w/ 3 blade aluminum 15X17 prop.

RPM MPH/KT GPH MPG
5600- 38/33- 21 1.8 (WOT)
4800- 32/27- 13 2.4
4500- 30/26- 12 2.5
4000- 25/22- 10 2.5
1500- 7 / 6- 3.5 2.0 (Trolling speed)

That was with about 40 gals of gas and just the family onboard. Gets on plane nicely, but I think I can detect the prop slipping while coming up on plane.

The motor runs a little rough at low speed, but is smooth as silk at cruise speed. Could be that I've gotten so use to 4 strokes, that I'm being too sensitive. I haven't done a compression check, but I pulled the plugs, and they all looked identical. Any advice from you Merc guys on what I need to watch for on this motor is greatly appreciated. The oil injection has been removed and the gas gets premixed.
