Default Leaning Post

I'm installing a new leaning post on my 20. What's a comfortable distance between the console & the leaning post? This leaning post also has the fold-down foot rest. Thanks in advance.

I would give yourself enough room to easily walk through without hitting your hips on the wheel and leaning post, but dont make it too far because then you will have to lean too far forward to reach the wheel if you are sitting on the post. I gave myself about 4 inches plus the width of my hips(make sure that you account for heavy clothes and sticky grundens worn during winter fishing).

Best thing to do is sit it in place and move it to the desired location then fasten it down and hope you have good access to the underside.
