Hey Entourage,

I simply love that house you have built on that boat. That configuration might have saved this company, way back when!

I've got a question, though I suspect I know what the answer will be. What do you use to tow that rig? If anyone would like to chime in on towing a Scepter with a BIG outboard or I/O, I'd like the hear that as well. I really don't need a pickup, but might do one if it makes sense.

Thanks in advance.

I had 2008 toyota tundra with a 4.7 litre and it towed it no problem. But i also have a 29 footer that i tow now so i have just traded in the 4.7 Tundra with a 5.7 Tundra. The 5.7 has crazy power almost like there is nothing on the back when towing the SeaCraft. Yeah the configuration would have definately helped SeaCraft. I Love when it is blowing 15-25 down here and i am the only boat trailer at the ramp. All the (Privateer Renegades) have to stay home. Lol

Lew,
If you want to do it comfortably (and safely), either a 1/2 ton P/U or full-size SUV will do the trick. But if you only need a tow vehicle for short runs and/or the spring drop-in/fall haul-out, you can make due with a mid-size SUV. My father always kept his Sceptre at a slip, so we only needed to haul his boat a couple times a year over 6-7 miles of back roads. Over the 14 years he had it, we towed it with a '00 S10 Blazer 4.3L V6 (I don't recommend this), a '00 F150 extended cab 5.4L V8, a '98 F150 reg cab short bed 4.6L V8 and a '03 Ram reg cab short bed 4.7L V8. Of all of those vehicles, my F150 5.4 did the best job out of the lot mainly due to the larger motor but also because of the longer wheelbase.

Entourage,

That's the nicest lobster boat on the water as far as I'm concerned.

The fastest too. You would have no problem winning the lobster boat races around here.

It's good that you trailer her cuz it would be a real shame if she broke off a mooring and drifted across to Nova Scotia...

Well said, totally agree with all of the above. Our experiences are very similar.
