Owning a boat is a never ending project. You are always tweaking and customizing to make it your own.
I found a really sweet deal on a raymarine electronics package. All new in box, with receipts, from a guy over in annapolis on craigslist. What really appealed to me was the 24 mile radar. The fact that we already have a Raymarine E-120 on the boat made it an easy sell, and an ever easier install. What i bought came with an E-80 headunit. DSM 300 sounder module, ray 125 gps antenna, 24 mile radar, ray 215 VHF, and all associated parts and cables to make it work. Again, all of this stuff new in the box with original receipts and i paid about 50% of retail. Here's the dome added to the hardtop of the 23 We stripped the electronics box and used a piece of white starboard to mount the new stuff. The new VHF was more powerful than the old, so we decided to swap them as well. I know that this isn't a terribly powerful radar setup. For what i paid for the whole mess, it was a situation i couldn't turn down. What i most wanted the radar for is navigating in the dark and the fog. This year we are going to push off shore and would be leaving port early, so having the radar will definitely help while running when it's dark. What's funny is - i'm boat rich and i haven't been fishing on my own boat yet this year............something wrong with that picture. -Mike |
