1976 restoration 23'
I was wanting some opinions on my 76 center console I'm restoring. First the transom has been redone with additional knees for support. A stainless marine bracket will be installed and twin 2003 yamaha 200 hp efi. The fuel tank will be 135 gal & moved forward. What kind of numbers will I be looking at for speed & fuel consumption, also will the deck drains still work in the floor?

I have never had one with twins, but i have had a couple of 23's. The first is to define what you mean by drains "work" , imho the drains will work ,meaning self bail at rest at dock with no weight in stern of boat but with any weight in the stern of boat you will be getting wet i would venture to say very wet . 2 200 efi is over 900lbs ,My 23 with a 2003 4 stoke (@ 565 lbs) and a armstrong floatation bracket and stock thru the floor drains will get me wet when myself (275) and someone else (any weight) stand in stern corner of boat. my 100 gal fuel tank is pushed all the way to the front storage box in front of console. I am looking to change drains thru transom this winter and hope this will resolve this problem with raising deck.
As far as performance from what i have heard you will run like a scalded dog , propped for speed i think you could easily run 65 and pass everything but a gas station. I have always wanted one that would run like that but you will have some tradeoffs. good luck and enjoy Paul |
