Is this really a 19 ?
Well since I sold my 78' i been looking around craigs for something cheap that i can leave parked and slowly work on it. I found this as a possible candidate for a CC conversion. But I though SC were either 18-20-23 and the ocational rare 19 mosley and the larger 27's ???

That's a 20' Seafari (actually 19' 8"), built on the exact same hull as the 20' Sceptre/MA/SF. Moesly created this hull from the 19' Bowrider to create a 20' hull for Carl Keikhaefer to enter in an offshore powerboat race class. Relatively rare compared to the cc models. Great boat with a little more weight up front than the center console models, which makes it ride better. Nice big cockpit with plenty of dry storage in the cabin, and comfortable bunks in well ventilated cabin if you enjoy long trips and sleeping aboard! Only downside is you have to get creative with anchor mounting and dock lines to compensate for more limited access to front deck.
If you really want a CC, then you'd be a lot better off, both financially and time wise, to wait to buy one than butcher one of these rare models, which were only made by Moesly and Potter. CC's are a lot more common and were in production until just a few years ago when Tracker quit making SeaCrafts.

yes but I do want an original potter hull, I also thought that converting one like this (especially since they are only asking $200 bucks for it) would of been a pretty good deal. So it is the same hull as the 20SF i had.

No Yea its a cheap fake - not a potter at all...
I'd pass and find the real CC mcoy. Cutting that boat would be a shame - look how it smiles like a dolphin. It would be like cutting off Flippers head

You're not the first to ask about converting a Seafari to a CC. It's come up before. Do a search and I think you'll find that the virtually unanimous answer from experienced guys was that even if the hull was free, unless you're a professional boat builder, you'd be WAY ahead to just buy an old beat up CC for $1-2K and restore it. Ask Strick, Island Trader, Blue Heron or Cayman Boy what's involved in just materials to convert a Seafari to a CC, and I think they'll tell to keep looking for a CC! There was one up in Maine that just went for what, $500? Also, there's nothing wrong with the Tracker hulls, and there's a lot to be said for the 25" transom on the later hulls. I think I'd rather have a Tracker hull than some of the late Potter ones anyway. I had a neighbor that used to work for Rybovich Marina, who was a SeaCraft dealer in WPB in the mid-late 70's, and he said that before Potter went bankrupt, they were starting to see a lot of quality problems on the new boats that the dealers had to correct before they could sell them.

Patching this 23's hull is gonna be a hell of a lot easier than a seafari to CC conversion. It'll cost thousands less and take 2.5 years less time.

Yea I was looking at that but I wouldnt trust a repair job with that kinda damage. Rather have an original un cracked hull. Just gotta keep on looking i guess
