Fiberglass fuel tank repair
Well Merry Christmas all. Heading over the river and through the woods to last night's family fest I ran over something. Mile or so down the road out I'm of fuel.
Worst fear confirmed in a 2 inch gash in lower front corner of the gas tank. Is this patchable? Thickend epoxy or Water Weld after a good dose of acetone or go find a new tank... any thought o resin guru dudes

Wish I knew....not qualified to answer that one Gillie. I would think that you would want to patch both the inside and out side of the tank...just like a boat.

Just outa' curiosity, what the heck kind of a vehicle are you driving with a
fiberglass tank?? I would be hitting the junk yard unless your ride is a Ferrari, Lamborgini or Bugatti Veyron!!! You would have to check Ebay....

Well Ken, it wasn't the Bugatti - I tend to favor the Aston Martin in the rain...
Needless to say they don't have the tank in my local salvage yards but I did find one up in North Hollywood... Strick, I think you're right about patching inside and out but the endoscope has something brown on the lens clouding my image of the internal perimeter... not confident I have a good rough edge...I'll get a better view tomorrow
