Default Regal Sword tuna & best ramp access?

Hi All,

Decided to trailer down to the Cape on a tuna marathon mission.
We launched from Bass River and managed to jig this fish up in the Regal Sword area last Fri.

Is there another ramp for quicker access to Regal Sword area trailering down from Boston?
Wondering if better options, incase another future tuna mission.

Appreciate the help from fellow Seacraft’ers!

- OUZO

OUZO,

Nice fish! We leave from Stage Harbor in Chatham. It's not tidal, well marked and usaully not too busy at 3:30am. Only problem leaving from here, especially in the dark, are the sand flats on the back side of Monomoy Island. It gets a little snotty in Nantucket sound too but once you make the turn around Monomoy you'll know if mother natures going to let you stay out there or not. Sometimes in flattens out, sometimes not so lucky.

Saquatucket Harbor in Harwich is also a good spot for you. Also puts you out into Nantucket Sound. From either location you should expect about a 28-30 runs, each way, to the Sword.

There are many other spots like Riders Cove in Chatham that put you on the outside quicker. However, if your not familiar with Pleasent Bay I was stay away. You'll end up high and dry pretty quick.

Tite lines!

Philfish

Philfish is spot on with his launch recs. I'd opt for Saquatucket coming from Boston. always deep and a straight shot out. Nice fish...what did you jig with?

Saquatucket. plenty of trailer parking and a nice ramp at all tides.

Thanks Guys, sounds like i should give Saquatucket a try. Wondering how much more of a drive to that ramp vs Bass river to shave off how many miles on the water?

The guy with me jigged it up with a Talica/Trevez setup with a green mac like Shimano butterfly jig.

To be honest, believe any jig would work once the captain told him when to drop it!

Nick, I hear you...The Captian is always right Should be about 35 miles from the ramp at Saq Harbor to the Sword.

It's worth the extra 20 min drive on rt 6 to harwich. No matter what you'll get better mileage in the truck than in the boat.

Saquatucket is a great ramp. Chances are good you'll be the smallest boat at the Sword!
