New to the group!

Greeting group and thank you for letting me join. My name is Spencer and live on Eastern Long Island and have just become a proud owner of a 1986 20' SeaCraft.I heard the boat advertised on a local "Swap and shop" radio show and couldn't believe my ears. The boat was in Greenport about 25 miles away but was on my way to work. It didn't look bad, a lot of cosmetic stuff. Deck were solid and after putting some weight on the 175 Johnson the transom seem strong too. After a few more visits and talking to the owner who now lives in North Carolina, we agreed on a price for the boat and trailer, and now she's mine. The motor is the big ?. It was winterized i think last fall but needs water pump . haven't cranked it yet but hopefully this week. right now I'm cleaning and draining old fuel , new filter etc.Here are a few pics of her before i did anything and will keep updating any progress. Welcome linesider! If that boat is an 86 it's really rare, i dont remember seeing any master-anglers after 81. Nice boat though.

What distinguishes a Master Angler from a regular 20'er, year built?

lookin good,Spencer, keep the picts coming,if it was winterized last fall, you should be fine.....someone will pipe in on the MA,seems to be a big topic here.

You have the Master Angler style and the "regular" style is referred to as the SuperFish (SF). My 1986 SF 20 if here.

Thanks guys for all the positive vibes. Hat Trick how does your boat handle with the 150 on her? I was thinking of repowering this winter after I see how this old Johnson runs or if it runs.

when i bought my motor in 2005 the Etecs were kind of new my boat guy thought the Suzukis were having corrosion problems and ALL outboards were hard to find. I love the motor and it moves the boat very well. It is however probably a little too heavy for the boat. To repower now i would take a hard look at an Etec, and I don't think a 150 is mandatory depending on how you like to use the boat. The 1986 20' is a foot longer than the 70's classics and probably a tad heavier I would guess so the 150 is nice, but I know plenty of people with 115's and 135's on the 20' classics that are very happy.
