2000 20? Seacraft
Hey guys, I?ve been stalking this forum for years,anyway now I?m finally able to potentially purchase my own Seacraft. I?m a boat rigger by trade, and I?ve repowered 2 20? Potter hulls with Suzuki?s. Anyway, the tracker site doesn?t have any Seacraft links I can find and you guys are super knowledgeable. I?m considering a 2000 Seacraft 20? for a potential bracket candidate also thinking about moving the console 8? forward. End result would hopefully be a beautiful Seacraft with a DF 200 that still self bails. Of course I would use a flotation bracket, but any advice would be much appreciated.

CG of heavy engines on brackets
Suggest you see my post and sticky. think of 9-24-16, of estimating CG shift with heavy engines with brackets. I provided an example you could plug your numbers into and you can simulate results with temporary loads like water filled coolers or lead weights. I realize most will fly by the seat of their pants or are scared of the math to try it, but the physics should prevail. Try it. What do you have to loose? Best wishes!

Terry - I made your post a sticky a few years ago in the repairs section. I'm not putting my head in the sand and disputing math/physics, but I think the additional stern weight and LCG shift (of 1ft) is significant and very noticeable. Sadly I can only offer my own anecdotal evidence (which doesn't mean squat) from running the 20 seafari w/ bracket and 20ma with transom mount outboards. Adding 100lb kicker to the transom on the 20MA was noticeable. When the 20 seafari's inspection plate on the bracket leaked and the tub filled with water that was also very noticeable. The extra weight on the transom and changes in the running angle at lower speed could be felt (or were reliably imagined. .

Did a total restoration to a 1974 20 Master Angler two years ago. Used a Hermco bracket and a 150 G2, should be able to answer a lot of your questions.
