Default Old Merc Knowledge Needed

A good friend of mine is in need of installing SeaStar steering on an early 80’s v6 Merc Black Max. The below pics and nameplate will let the Merc gurus know what I’m working with.

First off I need to know what I need part wise to make it work. I am open to do it piece by piece or a specific kit. If someone here has what I need and wants to work a deal, that would be great. If not would really appreciate help figuring out what I need to get this done and free up some shop space for another project.

Moose - I run a seastar 1.7 helm with a hynautic k6 ram (you just have to change to seastar fittings). It'll work great for that motor. Let me run down to the garage and I can get numbers of the older seastar stuff. I also have Shana's seafari here with that exact mid section and he runs a baystar setup.

Serial number is 1984 mercury 2.4L 200hp. You have a single ram mid section with external trim and tilt. The 1pc. heads are newer from 88/89/90.

Old discontinued seastar ram HC5340-42. I haven't used one of these recently on an older 2.4L 200, but I don't recall having any trouble with it.

We need photo evidence..

Remember what I said once you have to walk sideways through your shop, dang it, built it to small ! I feel your pain, cause I too have friends that have helped me fill my shop as well.

As of yesterday evening I had 3 in there and still room for one more but Scott and Julie‘s 20’ Seafari is currently in tow heading to Tampa.
