Re: REPOWER W/ TWINS
I am in the insurance business. As a rule the answer is no you can’t insures beyond the rated power from stated by the manufacturer, but there could be a exception. I would be more concerned about 1. Why would you want that much power on it. 2. That’s a lot of weight sitting on the transom that you didn’t need in the first place. One 225 or one 250 is a lot of power on that boat.

Re: REPOWER W/ TWINS
Gary,
I've seen it done, but I agree with Fellow-ship 100%. In practical application, the only upside is having a second motor. That could be accomplished with a 15 HP 4 stroke for WAY less. Maybe twin 150's, but the weight is still a huge negative without a flotation bracket. The new Yamaha 300 HPDI is intreging...

Re: REPOWER W/ TWINS
Just sell that new 23 and buy an old one like my '78. It's rated for 200's, in fact, I think some years the brochure offered twin 235's.
If you do go for twin 200's the weight will be too much. I know a guy who redid his 2001 23' with a wide body armstrong bracket and mounted twin 225 opti's. He nearly sunk it in the keys due to the extra weight. Stick with 150's and you should do 50+mph.

Re: REPOWER W/ TWINS
Check with John R. When he bought his 23 it had twin rude 235's on it. Did he ever float it to check the waterline ?
