Default What was the first year of the MA??

Anyone know the history behind the MA and some of these mods?
The specs sheets doesn't show the MA being built until 1975, but I know of at least 2 hulls with the 4 narrow stringers and a MA cap.

Also I'm kind of curious about these bait boxes and teak rails. One I bought (and never finished the project) and the green one lives in FL.

The Teak spray rails were a Sea Craft factory option. No Bones has them on his 1970 20SF. I believe the original owner ordered the when he ordered the boat.

Tim-
After the thread on THT last week and seeing the pictures, is the Hull ID# not showing SeaCraft, but homemade?? Maybe someone with inside access to the 20 SC after 1980 used the molds to build a couple knock-offs with the MA Caps and different stringers.

Danny - I consider that . . . but there are too many similarities . . . including a 4" baitwell hole in the exterior transom glass (mine was filled).
It's definitely a seacraft . . . from everything I can see.

18oz glass construction,
Hardware - bow lifting eye, stern chrome/brass lifting Pads/Eyes, through hulls in all the same places,
Rope loop in the bow glassed to the hull for removing the boat from the molds.
Stringers are the same shape and in the exact same location.

Everything about the hull is the same as chucks 1969sf . . .

I'll email Mr Potter and see what he says.

Jason - check your PM's.
************************************************** ****

I still have a 4 digit HIN number for my 1972 seafari and I cannot tell you how much trouble I went through with the DMV when I tried to register it . . . even though I a valid CA title in my hand. It took over 90 days for these monkeys to process the registration.

Thanks Tarpun!! I was wondering about that. I've seen those on a lot of hulls.

Are those bait wells part of the hull or are they ad on's? Here in the Keys alot of skiffs added the baitwells because of the natural flow of water(No pumps, holes in the bottom and sides of the well). I had them on the Fibercraft I redid a few years ago. They work great for crabs and shrimp but they can only hold a few fin fish at a time.

The Fiber-Man that did work on mine. Said He added a Lot of those B Boxes as it was a Help to the local Fishermen of S. Florida- Kinda a Fad.(His shop is actually 1/8 mile from the old Potter shop & He specialized in SC's).They helped with skinny water lift & added the extra length. cheaper than a "bracket". It was tough on a MA to reach them ,specially OffShore in a chop!Theire on a lot of older boats down there, getting scarce now.

Yeah, kind of figured they were added on and I can see how it might be a bit of a strecth reaching for bait.
