Metan VB Seacraft Video
For those who are interested. Here is some video of our Metan VB Seacraft running around the Chesapeake Bay after the Annapolis U.S. Power Boat Show. This boat rebuild was over seen by the Coast Guard here at Metan over a 3 month period. The vessel got certified as a "New Boat Build" Last month the Metan VB Seacraft won the "People's Choice Award for Best New Boat Overall" at The Newport International Boat Show. The vessel now features a Stainless T-Top with a Carbon-Fiber Hardtop designed and built by Jeff Botelho of Seamless Marine.
Oh I forgot to mention the boat was sold and yes we got very close to what we asked. Here is the link to the video http://youtu.be/Cqe04oS2qUY Visit the Metan on Facebook www.facebook.com/MetanMarine for more photos and updated projects and please don't forget to click "Like" For all the folks who came by at the last few shows thank you so much for your kind words and sit tight and see what is next! My Best, Mike Borrelli, Metan Marine, Inc. |

Mike, Thanks for sharing. Very nice build and video to back it up. Boat looks like it runs just right. I'm curious about top speed, cruise speed, and noise level at idle/cruise? Do you have any noise comparisons vs. a modern two stroke etec or four stroke outboard motor?
Congrats on the sale, Steve |

Cool looking boat. I was watching one of your videos showing the rebuild of a yellow 23cc. In the video the craftsman bond the new laminated deck to the refurbished stringers with an adhesive. At the point where the deck meets the sides of the hull how are you fellas finishing this joint? Are you glassing the deck to the sides of the hull? or are you doing something else... letting it free float? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n3IA4I19YyI&feature=plcp

Hi Gentleman:
My apologies I am not on the site as much as I would like and my plate is full. I will do my best to get back as soon as I can! Ok with that said here you go. The boat cruises at 30MPH at 3100RPM with a burn of 7GPH. Full throttle 40MPH at 4200RPM with a burn rate of 10 to 12GPH. This vessel has the most torque you will even feel out of a boat with over 400 ft-lb. I believe close to 460 ft-lb have to look at the spec sheet at the shop but very close. To answer the other gentlemen questions. We use Plexus 560 to bond to the stringers. Those photos were from a few years ago, we now use an air plexus gun which our forearms thanked us because doing it manually sucks. We then fiberglass the perimeter with multiple layers of 1708 tabbing under vacuum bag this includes into the gutters. We have a mold of the gutter that we jam into the gutter area again under vacuum so when cured we remove the gutter mold and we have a mint molded new gutter with minimal fairing to the gunnels. There is another video from the TV show on YouTube which shows much more of the details into this build. Let me know if you have any questions. Also go to our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/MetanMarine “Please Like Us” and our website at www.metanmarine.com Thanks Mike Borrelli Metan Marine, Inc. |
