contour camera or Go Pro camera???
I was looking at the Contour camera, and like all the attachments for it,and have been thinking it would work nice for fishing videos on the boat.Thought It would work well mounted on the arch.
Have also seen many videos done with the Go Pro cameras and they seem to be more popular. The GoPro videos are nice but I get a little tired of all them in wide angle fish eye size.I assume they can be done in a standard format as well. Any recommendations for either brand?and which has the easiest software to use.I'm not looking to make ultra fancy videos, just some stuff for friends and others who fish with us.It's strictly all Salmon trolling. Any info is appreciated.

Go Pro is a very simple camera that is extemely good at what it does, but it isn't something that has a lot of bells and whistles in the camera itself. As far as I know, they are wide angle only, although maybe somebody else makes an attachment that changes that.
Not familiar with the Contour. |

Samsung makes a nice waterproff camera that I got at Costco for 119.00 that has a lot of bells and whistles. Model # HMX-W300. It has a USB connection to computer

Contour fits a circular polarizer. Go Pro does not. Both have wide angle lenses. I have and use both. Go Pro is easy to use, more settings etc. but you prob won't use 90% of them. For fishing, I'd take the polarizer on the contour all day long. Underwater short distances, I like the go pro with a dive housing. Contour is easier to operate with gloves. Go pro is much easier to get in and out of the housings while contour mounts are easier to get the camera in and out of.

My friends have both, the videos come out great. I did notice the audio is better on the contour vs the go pro.
We use them while mountain biking to record the wipe outs!

Thanks guys, your help is appreciated. The members here never let you down.
I think I'm going to go with the Contour.I do some short video with my Canon digital, and it has nice video quality, but it's not easy to rig up mounts for it,and it is primarily for still photos. I'd like to actually do some video that could be uploaded to youtube and have it look nice with good shots of the action. The hard part will be getting my friends not to use a lot of four letter words.

I don't know if I would look at the new hero 3 silver it had 3 different view angles and longer record times
That's the one I'm going to get hopefully soon Here's a sample video done by one of our members http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UrARQwyqr4w
