18 Bow Eye

It appears that the bow eye on my boat is coming loose or pulling through (ie. there is a lot of threads showing).

It also appears that to fix this I am going to have to cut a hole through the liner in my fish box. Has anyone done this before? Any recommendations on the best way to do it? I was thinking about a hole saw but I am afraid the guide bit may punch through the hull.

id try a shorter but in the hole saw to stred the circle cutting, then perhaps remove the bit and just cut with the hole saw slowly

Had to do that. I used a 4" grinder with a diamond blade. The original eye only had small washers and dug into the glass. The new one I used has a small backing plate.

You should be able to access the bow eye nuts from the anchor compartment and not have to cut any holes. Mine has a small removable piece of plywood in the bow anchor compartment and once removed the nuts are visible & accessible.

These work really well!! I've got one I used on my boat and it's really easy to set the depth to cut only as deep as you need.
