Re: Time to repower .... Suzy DF140?
Jason,
Thanks for giving me top billing, I was wondering when Scott would be de-throned . I'll have to send you new pics showing the Yammie & jack plate. Glad to hear the boat is working out so well for you. How's the fishing down your way? It's starting to heat up around here - Dad had a 36# striper from the beach yesterday morning, plus a few others in the 20-30# range . |

Hello Scott-
The fishing has been insane. We have been taking the 20 to Cuttyhunk for an evening every week and been doing very very well. Looking forward to new pics of your boat. |

Re: Time to repower .... Suzy DF140?
Scott - Was that 36" or 36 lbs.?? We've been taking some nice fish around a "certain beach" up to about 42" My dad made the local papers and OTW with a nice 42" 25 lb. and I took a 42" 25/30 lb. class fish on light tackle while chasing schoolies. He didn't mind making the paper except they called him "83" yrs. young when he's really only 81!

Re: Time to repower .... Suzy DF140?
Be sure to check out the Di engines. They burn less gas then the 4 strokes and have alot less maintance then the 4 stroke. For the 400 hour service we charge 700.00 for it. Plus there are oil and filter changes at every 100 hours. If you dont use it much then I guess it would work out ok. I am going to run a Evinrude 150 DI on my 20. I just have to find the time to hang it. Striper season is comming up and I hope to have it ready by the end of the month. IF you want the color to match the boat order the Johnson 4 stroke. Same engine just painted white. Plus the last I check the Johnson is cheaper then the Suz. What it comes down to is what engine style do you want. Today if you choose the 4 stroke or the di two strokes you are getting a engine that will last for years.

Re: Time to repower .... Suzy DF140?
That would be 36 pounds, 45 inches. Tell Red he needs to leave the bigger fish for the young guys like me . The way he gets around, "young" best describes him, that's for sure. Glad to hear you guys are slayin' em.

Re: Time to repower .... Suzy DF140?
Scott, for Suzuki I recommend Chestnut Neck Marina. Good people and service.
Stay away from Tuckerton Marine!

Re: Time to repower .... Suzy DF140?
Joe,
I am not about to start a 4stroke vs DI debate here however I need to make some points. A $700 400 hour engine check is pricey for the 4 strokes yet lets add up 400 hours worth of DI oil. At 400 hours if you average 6 gallons per hour fuel burn you will eat up 2400 gallons of gas. At a 70-1 average fuel to oil mix you will burn 36 gallons of oil at the retail price of $17.99 or so per gallon( I have seen it as high as $23.99) is $647.64, almost as much as the 4 stroke 400 hour check. Another thing, my plugs on my DF 115's cost only $1.50 at the local auto parts store for NGK's, the oil filter is also about 5 bucks.(try that with a honda) Correct me if I'm wrong but Optimax plugs go for about $15.00 EACH! What's the retail cost for your customers for the 'Rude plugs? Another point, do the DI's require any 100, 200 or 400 hour checks besides plug, lower unit oil or impellers? That's my 2c.
