Default AFTER ITS BUILT

I have heard some people say, boy those guy's must be in love with their boats, their asking alot of money.[for sale] WELL when I got through putting my 23 together down to the last drop of gas in the tank. I would have been better off buying one already to go. Something in the range of $ 30,000.00..NOW I didn't have to paint the outside or inside, but everything else.Mind you I live in the north where everything cost more. So when I see a 23 seacraft going for 14-23,000. I say hay that ain't bad, all I have to do is put gas in and I'm off an running. All the work I put in that boat, I would do it all over again. HOW MUCH HAS YOUR PROJECT COST YOU? just remember where you live north-south or in the middle.

Hey Steve, mine is still a work in progress but I bought my 23IB at a City Auction for 6200. I probably have about 14,000 total after new motor, rebuilt tranny. The boat was fairly well maintained by the city, originally came with deisal (factory) , but police said it was too loud , so they changed the 3 boats they bought over to gas in 1991/2. (got 3 year old gas tanks). I did pretty good I think, the other 2 have been auctioned off since I bought mine in '95 as well.(inboards also). By the way, after my initial new moter install and prior to initial splashdown, I was offered a sizable amount of money for her that I had to turn down. (dont regret it one bit either). Good luck, sounds like you have a new 60 grand boat for half that price!!!! Craig

Steve, I've got around 27 into it.I hung a new motor in 96, Paited in and out , Closed the transom and hung a bracket last year. And between electronics, top, windshield, leaning post, etc, etc, man its never ending. Its still half of what a new one goes for,and I personally would'nt change it for a new one. RS.

Scott, Iwent with an Armstrong wide body, It rides much better.I had some guys that I know telling me dont do it your going to mess up the boat and others told me the ride will be much better and it is MUCH better. Besides the room that I gained ,this change was for the better. Now I have a live well that actually works perfect.Lawrence at Armstrong told me to go with the wide body because the positive floatation I actually gained an 1 1/2 at the stern.I would not put a bracket on unless its a wide body with a float chamber.A soon as I find someone with a scanner I'll send pictures.Billybob it took me 6 years little by little.RS.

Steve-

Want to thank you for your reply on Noreast Saltwater and for recommending this Super site!

I fish outta Mid-Cape, yarmouth. I recently bought this SeaCraft which used to be the Emma June. I love it and can't wait for the weather to warm up! Thanks again, see you at Monomoy....Gordon

I figure I have about $12,000 in mine including the new trailer(of course, not counting the labor). But, you can see I have no t-top and an old engine - so upgrade those and I'd be up there. As much as I love boating and fishing, the home and the kids have to take priority and I just hate debt.So when I started on this, I promised the wife I wouldn't take out a loan or touch the savings. That's why you gotta love the old Seacrafts, very few other boats would be worth the time and expense to restore.I'm sure I could get my money back if/when I ever sell it not many boats can give you that.

Hermco - The $12,000 is money I put into it so far, and I think I could get that back if I sold.I don't think that I could get anywhere near what I put into it if I added up the hours with a decent rate associated to it.

I assume that you got rid of the splashwell after the bracket was put on....But did you keep the livewell in the deck??

I forget are you running a single motor or twins and when you say "wide body" what does that refer to??? does that have to do only with the floatation?
