Finally I own a Seacraft on the Westcoast!

Hey Guys,

I used to post under MarkG but had to change my user name - changed emails / forgot password etc.

Some of you will remember my search for a 20 or 23 on the westcoast and I bought one the other day - it has been here for a while and the guy wanted too much money for it and I got him down some. The cost to get a boat to Vancouver (I am originally from Bermuda and have followed Seacrafts from a young age!) taking into consideration travel / survey / then transport would be considerable so I decided to go with this one.

Its a CSY built Seacraft and I am not taking the power - I may choose to go with twin 90 fichts on a full flotation bracket or a single 175 Ficht - also - the price is in Canadian dollars and I am not paying the list! Comes with the custom trailer seen.

The boat as you can see is in great shape - I am going to put a t-top on it with full electronics - the only issue I have really is the t-top - I know a great stainless welder who can do it reasonably but I prefer aluminum - there just arent any welders here able to do an aluminum top!

I may choose to bring one in from Florida but the console is not stock - its oversized so it may be an issue - any thoughts?

There are two other Seacrafts in Vancouver - they both have been featured on this site - they are the yellow ones which were redone to perfection - with perfection comes a huge price tag! There is a 23 and a 20 but the 20 is not a Master Angler like the one I picked up.

Mark, Very Nice 20' MA! My '79 looks to be almost identical. Same oversized C.C.. Often wondered how well you could walk around the bases with a fish on. Mine also had the captains chairs which I did not like and have removed. Still have not replaced with leaning post. Mine also has red carpet installed inside the gunnels. Is that what's inside yours? I have a '99 175 Johnson carb. and love it. Only 68 gal. of fuel. Well Congradulations, Good Luck!

Thats pretty funny that yours is so similar.

I am removing the chairs and have a leaning post already to be installed right away.

The carpet is coming out and am not sure I will replace it with - but I have always been of the opinion carpet just holds moisture in against the hull and I want to avoid that as much as possible.

I bought a 1983 CSY built center console a couple season ago. It is a great boat, built like a tank, and rides exceptionally well.

Yep Same here ! 83' M A. Love it, even more now that its been given a New Lift ! I went rhino insted of the carpet ! Cleans easier,Noise is down too! Sides/gunnels seem to more rigid.
Just make sure they rhino to Your color choice.

Capt. Brad, Never thought of Rhino liner! Just had Line-X sprayed in '04 Tacoma. Very nice. Another FF. applies Rhino at discount but says if I'm going to keep as long as my '87,(285000 mi.) he would recommend Line-X. Was it expensive to match color? Did you have to scuff inside of gunnels? Gues I'd have to remove the carpet adhesive. Any thoughts? Thanks.

Have'nt heard of line-X ,Theres a New co. down here selling a similar product(bunch of diff. liners).Not as thick and more rubber content.The rhino was about an Xtra $100. for color.Kinda screwed up & didn't get the right color so we acetoned the rhino & painted w/ awlgrip.same as hull.added a lil non-skid(beads) then sanded it down a bit.Stops the Glare & cleans easy. Removed the carpet/scraped the old glue off.Then sanded w/80g. sandpaper,acetoned. Has to be really clean,not so much smooth.The problem I had is where the deck & gunnel meet all the way around. I filled the gap with foam(spray) cut it down flush and at an angle(runoff) The rhino being thick filled a lot of the gaps too.It went to Rhino for their work.All the reasons i did it for, its worked out for the better ! Hope I don't ever have to remove it !They usually charge by the square foot,May help($) if You have it prepped before. [img]/images/graemlins/cool.gif[/img]

wow the glue on the carpet does not at first glance look to be such a problem - though i dont get the boat for a few days.

How does the Rhino stuff get applied ? Gun or by brush?

Maybe new carpet is the way to go?


The new t-top and the bracket are my biggest concerns - stainles for the top or not? That console is huge and I am not sure I want to risk ordering one based in my measurements!

I have decided against the twin 90's (really sad) based on the weight. We have some real rough crap here and I want to be safe - a single 175 with a kicker on a bracket will be fine. When i grow up I will get a 23 with twin 200's!
