Default raymarine-what can you tell me

Decisions, decisions
At the Miami Show and having a hard time picking the right electronics. Raymarine had a nice setup for sounder and gps/plotter, Furuno nice, and navman! Then someone says why a plotter?!!! Raymarine has the tide info and current info - pretty cool.

Gotta decide by tuesday!

Hi Bill

Did you score your console yet? If not, you might want to back off the electronics till you know the space you'll be working with; T-Top, radio box etc. Most of the marine electronic guys will honor the "Boat Show" prices if you explain your situation and get a quote on their business card

PS I got the Raymarine RC435 color chart. Easy to read in the daylight & with polarized glasses. Has all the right features

The new Raymarine DS400x/DS500x look like nice little 500watt color fishfinders. Have you seen any of these in at the show?

Hey chuck
I was told by bass pro that they couldn't order a console so I met a factory guy at the show and he gave me the best answer. Right now all their efforts are geared to trying to get boats out of the factory so they will not stop to build me one. The Dusky console looks good and will fit and I can make that front seat my water tank. It doesn't lift up but has a manly sized door in the side plus they are willing to sell them!! There is no point in looking for the console if my electronic choices won't fit!! The RC435i (internal antenna) looks real nice especially the tide and current info. It's good to know about the polarized part cuz that would have been disappointing to find out after the purchase. The deck is starting to be removed now. Might be using this honeycomb material that is very strong and light with no rot potential - laying over the underglass and raising the deck up about 1/2" to clear the tank fittings.

Bigshrimpin - the 500 is nicer with a bigger screen and is the same size as the 435. They have HD fish imaging (HDTV ) that they say is no comparison. The rep told me about their test boat going 60 and still reading the bottom. Says I can probably get both for $1,700 so I'm reading up and asking the board for input. They also say they are waterproof to 1 meter so that is hoseable!

I was origanally going with Furuno FCV600l FF and a Garmin 182c GPS. I CAN'T DECIDE!!!! Help me pick!

I was impressed with the new combo units at the Miami show. The C70 with plotter depth, radar if you want it was very impressive. The C80 has a bigger screen. The displays are the brightest I've seen in this price range. I work for Raytheon and must say this is the first unit I'm considering, for my own boat. Some other not so well known facts: The systems are sealed with waterproof gasketing and filled with an inert gas. Nitrogen, I believe. THe only piece of electronics I didn't trash on my 23 that went under was the Raymarine Depth Sounder. I wouldn't be so concerned anymore about buying a combo unit and having to lose both functions if one goes out and needs to be returned for maintenance. Like outboards, they are much more reliable than in the past. My 2 cents. Dink

If anyone is interested in these units BOE marine is offering a great deal on refurb'd Raymarine units. All the refurb'd unit come with full 2 year warranties.

I just picked up a DS600x for $479 delivered (overnight).

I ve had 2 265 and 1 365 raymarine units every one sent back because of moisture getting in the units, the 365 was so bad you could see the water level thru the glass. Les
