there seems to be a debate as to adv/disadvantage to aluminum vs fiberglass fuel tanks. SC18 takes a 30-or 45 gal tank..opinions about which is preferred. currently I have a 30 (usable) gal tank and it has served its day.. Also where can I locate replacement tank either al or glass for this boat. Its a 78. Thanks js
also I just found a Tempo glass tank 36 gal (16"W x 8-1/4"H x 68-3/4"L) price 209. will that fit my 18 and is that a good deal. still thanks JS |

thanks- jw-tex- I checked w/West online- price 299.99? the 209 came with sending unit, hose barb etc. I think it may fit-if I can read the boat specs correctly after all these years. do you prefer plastic or aluminum?

Plastic will have fuel odor in bilge (the vapor smell gets through the plastic), I store my boat in my garage therefore I am going to use aluminum. When you get to the smaller tanks plastic is a pretty attractive alternative and it will last much longer than anything else.

These guys carry many OEM parts, fuel tanks, consoles etc. They are located in Cape Canaveral, Fla.
Just know your dimensions first. Click here---------> Flounder Pounder

Chuck,
Nice site, thanks. I'm driving JAX to Jupiter next Tuesday and may stop in to see them.

Actually, that site was given to me by "ScottM" he's the man helping me look for some cleats
I know Marine Connection liquidators here in Ft. Pierce has hoards of fuel tanks but they don't have a site. You have to go there in person. Their phone service needs a major overhaul

For what it's worth, I visited Flounder Pounder and found them to have an inventory of a mixed bag of marine items, including fittings, t-tops, hard tops, biminis, fuel cells, etc. They don't alot of any one thing and it's a tight squeeze. If you do find something that may work for you, be sure to have your measurements with you.
