Over 200 views and only 2 comments - Please help me out - overpriced/underpriced? Not enough of a project boat? Wrong year? Why no interest in this boat?

Re: 1989 23 CC w/ Twin Engines 1996 complete Re-Fit
It's a beautiful boat with a great price. We are putting twin 150 HPDI on our 1979 23 cc with a bracket!

Any feedback at all is welcome. I just listed this with a broker and he wanted to start at $34k after doing some research and sea-trialing the boat.

Re: 1989 23 CC w/ Twin Engines 1996 complete Re-Fit
Here are questions that I would have:
How many hours on the engines and what is the compression like? The age of the engines may be scaring people away. If the engines are in great shape and have a lot of use left than say as such. What shape are the deck and transom in? If they are rock solid, than play it up. I would think that you could get near asking price providing that you have a good story to tell on the above items.

Re: 1989 23 CC w/ Twin Engines 1996 complete Re-Fit
Hey John-
Take it from someone who is in the business......boat sales are way down this year and there is a ton of used boats on the market. I am sure your Seacraft is in fine shape.....my recommendation would be sell it yourself so you can drop your price by 3-4k and then advertise it on traderonline and in the local want-ads. She'll sell but most likely for less than you are currently asking. Good luck. |

Re: 1989 23 CC w/ Twin Engines 1996 complete Re-Fit
You know, it's sad but true, sales seem to be real low this year and this gem will take a while to sell at your asking price. Unless you're desperate to get rid of it, I would wait a bit until the market can accomodate your boat so you don't have to give it away at a low price. She deserves better!

Re: 1989 23 CC w/ Twin Engines 1996 complete Re-Fit
There are 450 hours on the engines and compression is excellent and uniform. The floor and transom were professionally reconstructed in 1996 and are solid. My Father is a Custom Boatbuilder (30 years) and went over this boat with a fine tooth comb before I bought it - The boat is as solid as you will find. Other than a few very minor cosmetic blemishes this boat/engine/trailer/electronics package is perfect. The new replacement cost for a boat rigged like this has to be over $80k, that is why the broker wanted to start it at $34k - he felt that I was underpricing the boat at $29k and probably making people think something was wrong with it. I want to let the broker earn his fee but I really only need to get $25k.
