All Painted, now I just need a 4 stroke
Just finished painting my Seacraft 20cc. I need to share the pictures with people who would appreciate it. I didn/t think it would come out this good, expecially for the 1st time ever attempting it.
Here it is Please let me know what you think. Also I am looking to replace the yamaha 2 stroke with a Suzuki, or Yamaha 4 Stroke. Does anybody have an opinion on this?

Re: All Painted, now I just need a 4 stroke
2 coats of white primer and then 4 coats of yellow polyurethane.
The 140hp will not be to big for the back of the boat? I am a little concerned about the self bailing aspect of the boat. I am not afraid of getting my feet a little wet, but am not a fan of having water up to my ankles when in a drift.

Re: All Painted, now I just need a 4 stroke
I used 2 quarts of pettit Poly topside paint. The primer was basic Pettit sandable white primer. Bottom Paint is Pettit Antifouling black. We rolled the topside paint on for the 1st coat, wet sanded and waited for it to dry. 2nd 3rd and 4th coat was rolled on, then using a dry roller, going over the paint very lightly to take away the air bubble in the paint and smooth the finish.

Re: All Painted, now I just need a 4 stroke
I went for the 140 Suzuki (20inch shaft) because of the weight....I have the original floor and transom on my 76 20 cc....I have been very happy with the entire set up, the boat runs great, sips fuel and my feet are dry.

Looks great !
Yellow does seem to fit well with the Sea Craft's - and you have a nice looking one!
What motor are you currently running ? for what it's worth, I've got an 84 Johnson 115 on my 20' Seafari, and in gps measured mph, she tops out at 30, with a nice cruise at 23-24, and a very soft slop cruise at 18, she runs very dry, but then I troll, haven't tried drifting, and I've been running with plugs in the floor scuppers. I've thought about repowering, and right now I'd guess I'd lean towards a Merc Optimax 135 - a lighter weight 2 cycle, fuel injected, supposed to be pretty thrifty, a little easier on the pocketbook to purchase, and plenty of motor for the boat - just my take. Been out the last two weekends, mouth of the Mac, Plum Island, Ipswich Bay area, with pretty good results on stripers and blues - get that thing going and get out there ! Bill |

Re: Looks great !
If you do repower, i'd be interested in looking at your yamaha. What shaft length, hp & year is it?

Re: Looks great !
If you are going to repower, you should look at the new line up of etecs. They came out with a 60 degree block for the 150 hp, 175 hp and 200 hp. The weight is the about the same as the suzuki 4 strokes. The weight to hp will be better so going to the larger hp you should be able to get better fuel economy. The engine may not have to work as hard going the same speed.

Re: Looks great !
Right now currently I am running a 4 cylinder Yamaha 130hp 2 stroke. I have topped the boat out at 36mph and a fair cruising speed of about 25-27mph. I can strain off the slop from the top on a rough day doing about 18 also.
I know a few people with Mercury Optimax's and of the 5 people I know, 4 of them had engine problems and were off the water for a whole season. That kind of scares me. One of the problems a good friend of mine had was a cracked head. Brand new Engine to. I fish off of the Vineyard and Nantucket and we had an incredible season this year, catching everything from Stripers and Blues, to Falsies and Bonito. My buddy has a 2001 20 Foot Classic and his is set up for Tuna fishing. We hooked up a couple times with schoolis in Cape Cod Bay off of that. Right now I am lookg towards next season. Cannot wait. Until then Ill continue being a boat slavew for whoever will let me on.
